Route Formentera – Espalmador, Illetas, Cala Saona – Es Vedrá – Puerto
Formentera & Es Vedrá: A Yachting Odyssey Through Balearic Paradise
The untamed beauty of Formentera’s western coast and the mystical allure of Es Vedrá on an unforgettable nautical escape.
Our journey begins from the vibrant port of Ibiza, where the ancient ramparts of Dalt Vila provide a stunning backdrop as we glide past the bustling shores of Playa d’en Bossa and the pristine sands of Es Cavallet. Depending on your desired pace, our first anchor could be the secluded cove of Cala Pluma or the iconic Playa de Salinas, each offering a taste of Ibiza’s coastal charm.
Our first major destination is the breathtaking islet of Espalmador, a jewel within the Ses Salines Natural Park, which stretches majestically from Ibiza to Formentera. Here, the crystalline waters and powdery white sands create a scene of unparalleled beauty. Dive into the refreshing embrace of the Mediterranean or explore the serene coastline on a paddleboard.
Espalmador‘s protected status within the Ses Salines Natural Park ensures its pristine condition. Access the shore by swimming or paddleboard, and stroll along its beaches, always mindful of the delicate dune ecosystem. Remember, this is a sanctuary, and preserving its natural beauty is paramount. The use of jet skis, seabobs, and other water toys is prohibited within the park.
Between Espalmador and Formentera lies the Pas des Trucadors, a mesmerizing sandbar that connects the two islands. While some adventurous souls attempt the swim, we advise against it due to the distance, depth, and currents
Our voyage continues to the renowned Playa de Illetas, where you can bask in the Mediterranean sun on the deck of your yacht as we anchor in its crystal-clear waters. Keep an eye out—you might just spot a celebrity enjoying this slice of paradise!
The northern end of Illetas is a haven for nudists, offering the perfect opportunity for an all-over tan. This is also where you can indulge in exquisite dining at Illetas’s celebrated restaurants. During peak season, reservations are essential, so plan ahead. Your captain can assist with last-minute arrangements via radio
Starting from Espalmador and moving towards La Savina, you’ll find a culinary lineup that includes Es Ministre, El Pirata, Juan&Andrea, Es Molí de Sal (with its classic interior and terrace), El Tiburón, Beso Beach, and the 2024 newcomer, DÚO in Cala Sa Sequi. Dining with your toes in the sand, amidst a backdrop of stunning views and perhaps a celebrity sighting, is an experience in itself. The menus feature a delightful fusion of Mediterranean and international cuisine, with a focus on fresh seafood.
After a leisurely interlude at Illetas, we set sail for the idyllic Cala Saona. Its turquoise waters beckon you to explore the vibrant marine life beneath the surface. Savor a meal at one of the beach’s charming restaurants, such as Restaurante Sol, Sol Post at Hotel Cala Saona, or Chacala.
Following a delectable lunch, we’ll journey back towards Ibiza, passing the enigmatic Es Vedrá, a majestic rock formation that stands as an iconic symbol of Ibiza.
With so many wonders to explore, careful planning is key. This route involves considerable sailing time (a minimum of three hours, depending on your vessel, sea conditions, and whether you opt for additional stops like Cala Jondal). The extended engine use means less time for anchoring and dining ashore.
Key Considerations:
- Respect for Nature: The Ses Salines Natural Park is a protected area. Please adhere to all regulations and leave no trace.
- Reservations: Dining at popular restaurants, especially during peak season, requires advance booking.
- Navigation: This route involves significant sailing time, so plan accordingly.
